Sunday we drove up to Tomales Bay for my surprise at the Hog Island Oyster Farm! It was a beautiful day and we arrived on time for our 10:30 reservation. I reserved a picnic table and grill a few months ago (it fills up months out!), and Hog Island provided the shucking equipment and a quick lesson.

We started with two dozen oysters (one dozen each of extra small and small Sweetwater) and got to shucking! It was definitely not as hard as I thought it would be – though the extra smalls were a lot easier to open than the smalls. We ate our oysters mostly plain (they were delicious just by themselves!) plus cheese, crackers, and apples that we brought! I also brought two bottles of wine for Josh (a Muscadet and a rosé) but we brought home most of it.

The dogs had fun laying in the shade under the table while we ate and shucked – we stayed for almost three hours and ate almost 60 oysters! Such a fun activity! We got home in the late afternoon and just hung out at home for the rest of the day. 🤗

PS: yes, oysters are safe to eat during pregnancy! My doctor said to enjoy!
