We went to Mexicali with our church on our first missions trip! The high school students drove down to San Diego from Menlo Park over Thursday night, but most of the adults got to fly on Friday morning. We all met up in Calexico and caravanned down (like a dozen 15 passenger vans!) to Mexicali. The entire group was split between five villages, and our village was Quintana Roo. We stopped for tacos just before reaching the village (delicious!) and then when we arrived, we immediately started playing with the kids in the village! Once the sun set, all of the groups at the villages headed to our hotel. This was a really unexpected part of the trip: a whole hotel to ourselves, and we had worship and sermons every morning and evening in the main courtyard. I LOVE worship music so this was the best! We stayed in rooms with high school students and every evening we chatted about the sermon and prayed together. Great start to the weekend!
